Our Why.

Very few man-made items in this world are more permanent or more impactful than a building. If that building is a house, it has the potential to change a family's life for the better. If that house becomes a destination, where you are most at peace, and family and friends choose to gather year after year, its impact can be generational. It can become much more than a house.

Nearly thirty years ago I started on the path to becoming an architect because I understood architecture is a profession which allows you to dramatically impact lives…to create something meaningful, something lasting, something which will be here long after I am gone.

After working professionally and practicing my craft for fifteen years, I founded North45 architecture in 2017 at the age of forty. When I turn sixty-five the plan is to be pulling an Airstream trailer around the country and playing a lot more golf. That gives me twenty-five years.

Twenty-five years…four houses per year…one hundred houses.

One hundred chances to listen to a client’s dream.

One hundred chances to walk the site.

One hundred chances to study the land.

One hundred chances to study the view.

One hundred chances to dream myself.

One hundred chances to frame the sunset.

One hundred chances to capture the breeze.

One hundred chances to learn.

One hundred chances to improve.

One hundred chances to get it right.

One hundred chances to chase perfection.

One hundred chances to be daring.

One hundred chances to be restrained.

One hundred chances to implement the right move.

One hundred chances to build something special.

One hundred chances to make them say “wow”.

One hundred chances to leave them speechless.

One hundred chances to create a home.

One hundred chances to create someone’s escape.

One hundred chances to create someone’s favorite place.

One hundred houses. That will be my life’s work.
